Girls missing since sleepover sought in California
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities sought the public's help Monday in finding two girls — ages 12 and 14 — who went missing during a weekend sleepover in California.
Detectives were trying to determine whether the girls might have run away or been victims of foul play.
"We're keeping all options open," police Lt. Christian Dinco said.
The girls were last seen around midnight Saturday at the home of one of the girls in Riverside, he said.
Police using bloodhounds were joined in the search by family members and friends of Raylynn Bolt, 12, who was described as 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds with dirty blond hair and blue eyes, and Diana Tourdot, 14, who is 5-foot-6 and 120 pounds with dark brown, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
"This is the last thing a parent wants, is your kids to go missing," Donald Bolt, Raylynn' father, told KABC-TV.
He said the family gets along and enjoys such everyday things as videogames.
"Unfortunately I think these two girls just got into a little bit of trouble," he said.
The girls were spending the night at Diana's home. Diana's mother said she fell asleep around 10:30 or 11 p.m., heard a noise around midnight and woke up at 6:30 a.m. and the girls were gone, according to Bolt.
He appealed to both girls to not worry about consequences and simply return.
"You guys can come home," he said. "You guys are OK. I mean, you know, if you guys maybe ran away or something or went to some guy's house, everything's fine. We've all done it. We've all been 12, 13, 14."
