Giuliani: Romney Changes 'Give Me Pause'

Former New York City Mayor and onetime presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani admitted that he'd be willing to support Mitt Romney—if only the Massachusetts governor hadn't flip-flopped on so many issues.

"He changed his position on virtually everything. He was a traditional moderate Republican […] he changed all that,” he said on CBS’ Face the Nation.

“I’m a moderate Republican, that’s what I am, so I’d be inclined to support someone like Mitt Romney. But all those changes give me pause,” he said.

Giuliani said that the vitriolic nature of the campaign was harmful, and that “it’d be a much more interesting race” if Newt Gingrich and Romney stopped attacking each other and started talking about the issues.  He added that, between Gingrich and Rick Santorum, one of them should drop out to allow the anti-Romney vote to coalesce.

“We’re not getting the true picture of what the opposition to Governor Romney is, cause it's split,” he said.

Rudy was a draft dodger like Romney, that should count for something with him.

Rudi knows a flip flopper when he sees one! If I were a republican I would have pause too.

The rich are sitting on trillions of dollars simply because they can't spend it all. Ever see the movie Brewster's Millions? We need to take that money back that they didn't earn and was deliberately siphened away from the middle class for the last 30 years. It’s only been about socialism for the rich. Nobody else!! The rich would pay 1 cent per hour if the government passed a law permitting it today. They sure don't work a tenth as hard as their parents and don't have a tenth of their scruples. Don't give me this junk about the shareholders decide to pay them that because your vote is only worth the amount of shares you have. You can't force people to create jobs but you can force them to pay a living wage otherwise their unworthy business is not going to be allowed to exist. You can do away with the capital gains tax and tax everything as income so that there's less incentive for businesses to just do the market instead of expanding their company. You can stop any idea of a flat tax because a flat tax only benefits the rich and shuts everyone else out. Paying fair tax really means what you have left over as disposable income. Someone who has none left over shouldn't be required to pay the same flat tax as someone who has millions left over. You’ve been taxed just with inflation alone as businesses are not giving you a cost of living adjustment even though you provide them a service just like their vendors do who charge them a cost of living adjustment. They are ripping you off. Plain and simple. You can save social security/medicare simply by taxing incomes over 110k the same percentage for social security/medicare as everyone else pays. These 110k and above people do what it takes so they can still collect it when they retire and they never pay a dime into it for any of their income above 110k. They’ll be unemployed long enough to qualify or they’ll take a low paying job for a few years before retirement. You can levy heavy fees and taxes on outsourcing so it's no longer practical for companies to do so... You can penalize them for doing the wrong thing instead of offering tax breaks to do the right thing and it will be a better example to our kids. The rich were still rich in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s when paying 90% tax before LBJ lowered it to 70% in 1965. Ronald Reagan took it from 70% down to 28% and it's been there ever since with tons of write offs as well. This country was a leader and we advanced the most when the rich had to pay their fair share of taxes. We must bring back that same tax policy and it will unfortunately take 30 years of it to straighten out this mess. The 99 percent are finally realizing that they were not put on this earth to take the rich’s crap their entire lives. That's right. Hire me. I'll run your business. I'll create ideas to make and save you money. And when your expenses go up with inflation, don't even give me a cost of living adjustment so you can pay me wages of years ago. Oh yeah and we'll not call that a hand out to the rich or socialism for the rich. We'll tell everyone it is you that worked hard. We'll tell everyone your so called worthy business will survive even without paying slave wages. Tell them you'll hire people for even less overseas unless they lower the minimum wage...Tell the employees you do have that they can get 2 full time jobs and go to school so that one day they can make a living wage and stop being lazy. And though you paid 70 percent tax for over 20 years before Reagan lowered it to 28 percent, just cry like a baby when they want to make you pay more than 15 percent. Tell them why you must have 200 times more disposable income that your parents and grandparents had because they had a sickness called scruples, principles, ethics, and pride. Fair contributions and the measure of someone's good will is not the amount of what they give. It's the amount they have left after giving.

"Take that money back" Seriously? I worked my A@@ off to get a job making &150K a year. Believe me, I'm paying more taxes than you and those that live on welfare are! I came from a single parent home, living in a trailer in Arkansas, where my mother worked two jobs to raise three kids. You want fair share? Then go to college, pay your student loans and get a job. Whining that there are no jobs out there is a bunch of #$%$ If that's your argument, then join the Military or Peace Corps and learn a trade and let them pay for your schooling!

Romney is a human chameleon and is only interested in advancing the cause of his 1% pals. He pays lip service to the middle class to try and sucker them for votes and by his own admission is not concerned about the poor people. He isa fake.

Republican president, house, and senate from 1921 to 1933. Republican house and senate 1919, 1920, 1947, 1948, 1953, 1954. Republican senate from 1981 to 1987. Republican house and senate from 1995 until 2007 with the exception of not having the senate for 2001 and 2002. The republican house, senate and president couldn't wait to show everyone what they could do with the surplus from 2003 through 2007. They made some impression on what would happen when for the first time in 68 years you had a republican house, senate, and president..... the republicant bubble...Now they have the house until 2013 and they are still the party of “NO!”…They are even cannibals to each other. If you want to study the art of lying, study a republicant. All these dumb republicants can do these days is say “no” to everything and slack off…….. They can’t speak, help, write, or even pronounce their last names… As for music, they only know the beginning of that 1968 hit "Nobody But Me". Circle Jerk Neanderthals……What a coincidence that it was 68 years between the two republicant bubbles of having a republican president, house, and senate…... republicans always stick together as illiterate neanderthal clowns against a divided democratic fillibuster... so the republicans win anyways... 50 percent of a 60 percent democratic fillibuster always loses against a hundred percent of a 40 percent republican party...Bush Junior thought he was a genius by creating a new tax bracket which was the lowest for people that don't pay tax anyways at that income level. He did this so he could bring down the top brackets more.... He also stopped funding the anti-terrorism task force as soon as he got into office... He's vedy vedy saudi for trusting the saudi's.......bush lowered the capital gains tax to 15% in 2003 under a republican house & senate so that they can go on to break world history in war profiteering off the haliburton stock as our troops were sent home in body bags... Businesses pay less tax playing the market for profit rather than it being taxed at their income level which is already a disgustingly low tax rate. We used to have scruples. There were always people ripping each other off but nowhere near the extent we have today. We didn't have high medical costs, sky high gas, food, rent, etc. and the middle class could have some disposable income. Today they throw out a bunch of mumbo jumbo to sugar coat the turd that the only way they can fix things is to take away what the poor and middle class had and give it to the people who don't need it at all up top in the wealthy class.... It makes no sense... It's very very shameful... They didn't work hard for it.... This was given to them on a silver platter. We are at a stale mate... Either you give back what was taken from the poor and middle class or continue to support socialism for the wealthy who only exploit people to the worst level in history due to lack of having their parents scruples and never broke an extra drop of sweat since before Reagan took office freezing the minimum wage, busting up unions that protected workers, cutting the rich's tax from 70 percent down to 28 percent.... etc. Senate: 2007 - 2009 = 49 dems and 49 repubs, 2009 - 2011 = 57 dems and 41 repubs, 2011 - 2013 = 51 dems and 47 repubs... No fillibuster worked against the republican party of no which was undivided. House: 2007 - 2009 = 233 dems and 202 repubs, 2009 - 2011 = 257 dems and 178 repubs, 2011 - 2013 = 242 repubs and 193 dems. No fillibuster worked against the republican party of no which was undivided. Go to the US Senate Government site to confirm exactly what I typed and you'll see the Party Divisions in the Senate as well as the Party Division in the House of Representatives, 1789-Present.

Oh my, Rudy, you are SO original with your ideas and comments!

Can't anyone come up with another conservative criticism on Romney? Granted, he has flipped (and I see that as good) but where are the flops?

Rudy G. Who gives a flying fling what you think. You made a gazillion dollars off the whole 911 tragedy and are just a D-lister. If Romney is considered a Mormon, then you sir are considered a #$%$..and you and Huckabee can't stop Mitt Romney like you agreed to do together back in '08. Bigots you both are.

Romney will NEVER defeat the Nazi in chief. George Soro's said Romney/Obama are the Same...so he endorses Romney. Why? humm... well...Romney is a scam. He KNOWS he won't defeat Ocommie for the simple fact that he was put in this position to run/win...so it would be a 'shoe-in' for Obama to have 2nd term. Why do u think the Left LOVES Romney so much? East math. They smear Gingrich (the ONE they really FEAR)..use MILLIONS to do so...ZAP......Romney wins.....OBAMA SECOND TERM.............u do the math....Its quite elementary...!!
      • J Oc 3 mths ago
You are insane. You are are calling President Obama both a nazi and a commie. Make up your mind, or better yet, get a mind to begin with. One with an intelligent thought for starters.

The smartest thing he said was "if Newt Gingrich and Romney stopped attacking each other and started talking about the issues." But I wouldn't even call it interesting. It might just be less disgusting than what they are doing now. I guess it's easier to point out everything you hate about the other guy, in order to cover for the fact that you don't have any idea what you'd actually do, and don't think far ahead enough to ever try to have a plan.
