Glance: Oil prices end higher on hope of stimulus

NEW YORK (AP) — The price of oil finished slightly higher Monday after a push-pull between bad economic news and hopes that bad news would compel central banks to intervene.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:

Benchmark crude ended up 12 cents to $96.54 per barrel.

Wholesale gasoline ended up less than a penny at $3.024 a gallon.

Heating oil finished up 1.8 cents at $3.17 a gallon.

Natural gas rose 13 cents to end at $2.81 per 1,000 cubic feet.

On the ICE futures exchange in London:

Brent crude gained 56 cents to finish at $114.81 per barrel in London.
