GLBT Travel Industry Experts and Travelhoppers Reveal Same-Sex Honeymoon Travel Tips as New York State’s Gay Marriage Law Prepares to Take Effect

Travelhoppers has teamed-up with GLBT travel pros to offer tips for planning a flawless same-sex “Gaycation” as New Yorks State's new same-sex marriage law taking effect this Sunday, July 24th. Experts reveal gay-friendly destinations, advice on where couples can seek same-sex travel planning expertise, hints for finding the perfect hotel accommodations and more.

Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) July 22, 2011

Travelhoppers - a new site dedicated to providing free travel planning resources coupled with travel expert insight and advice - today reveals the top travel tips for same-sex couples looking to flawlessly plan their perfect honeymoon or romantic vacation this summer or fall. These helpful travel tips were compiled by GLBT specialized travel agents as well as industry experts and include a list of gay-friendly destinations, advice on where couples can seek same-sex travel planning expertise, hints for finding the perfect hotel accommodations and more.

“On July 24th, New York will become the sixth and largest state to allow same-sex couples to wed – a monumental day in the national gay-rights movement, which has the travel industry taking notice,” said Richard Earls, Founder of Travelhoppers. “To respond to the increase in same-sex travel predicted for this fall and winter, we have reached out to our friends at the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association as well as travel agents that specialize in planning GLBT vacations, to compile advice for same-sex couples looking to plan a carefree honeymoon.”

Here’s a look at the top three GLBT vacation planning tips, compiled by Travelhoppers:

    1) Determine Your Destination – According to the Travel Industry Association (TIA), nearly half of gay and lesbian travelers said that a destination with a gay-friendly reputation is a prime consideration in their leisure travel choices. If you want to experience the culture and sights of another country, a specialized travel consultant can give you a good idea of the local attitudes in countries that support same-sex travelers abroad – as well as advice on which destinations to avoid, including those that may even demonstrate hostility towards the gay community. When choosing a honeymoon destination in the U.S., the TIA recommends the following cities as being the most gay-friendly: Miami, San Francisco, Key West, New York City, Provincetown, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Palm Springs. Europe has long been a favored destination as liberal same-sex marriage laws have been in effect for years, with The Netherlands being the first nation to legalize gay marriage in 2001 followed by Belgium in 2003.

    2) Find The Perfect Hotel Fit - In addition to consulting an experienced travel agent, Gregg Welpe – a travel agent in Dallas who specializes in same-sex travels – suggests that the website “TAG Approved” (tagapproved.com) is a tremendous research tool for finding gay-supportive hotels and attractions worldwide. An additional online resource Welpe recommends is “Purple Roofs” (purpleroofs.com), which is a GLBT world travel guide and lodging directory that showcases GLBT-friendly B&B’s, inns, guesthouses, hotels, travel agents and tour operators worldwide.

    3) Consultation Is Key – One of the best possible places to start planning a honeymoon vacation is with an experienced travel consultant. Travel agents have professional resources at hand to provide direct and unbiased information regarding the quality and general attitude that various destinations and accommodations have towards same-sex travelers. Experienced travel agents will also know which travel companies have a history of providing reliable travel arrangements for same-sex clientele and are the best place to start when planning your honeymoon. So where can you find a specialized GLBT travel agent? The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association is a great place to start – as the website even has a tab that helps you find a member travel agent in your local area by simply entering your city or zip code.

This roundup of tips, advice and GLBT travel insight was compiled by Travelhoppers’ Founder, Richard Earls, and his team of knowledgeable travel experts and niche travel specialists that regularly contribute to the Travelhoppers blog. Additional expertise was provided by Gregg Welpe, an experienced travel agent in Dallas that specializes in same-sex travel, as well as Tom Nibbio, the Business Development Director for the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association. The full article featuring same-sex honeymoon travel tips is available at Travelhoppers.com.

We've got lots of really good hotels and etc for newlyweds here in Texas,
but I don't think the Texas Legislature wants the business. They seem to do everything they can to chase gay people away.

Thank God for Texas, Because we really dont want their blood money...

Texas is full of treasoners, who want to secede (note the spelling you teabaggers) from the United States, but still LOOOOVE taking in that tax money as we bail them out of their drought. Biggest wasteland around.

Well, we sure wouldn't cut our throats by voting Republican whatever our philosophy of government is. I am not entirely happy with Obama but we are surely better off with Obama over the Republican alternatives. I might vote Republican if Ron Paul is nominated but that won't happen. I was registered as a Libertarian for a while.

Since homosexuals can't reproduce, their only hope of continuing their lifestyle is to convert innocent children into homosexuals. "Marriage" is the sham used to legitimize this horrific social experiment.

They want to adopt innocent children and then teach them sodomy.

Is that where the Afghan war lords have their dancing boys? Look for the documentary "The Warlords' Tune" which shows how the rich and powerful in Afghanistan make sex slaves out of adolescent boys. There are descriptions of the film on the internet. That is what Americans are fighting and dying to protect.

Unlike your stereotype image, I have tried both and I still prefer men. Several of my gay friends also have tried women and decided they didn't like it.

I am baffled. How does this law that addresses GLBT affect those transgender crossdressing heterosexual guys already married to women. Will they now have to get remarried in NY and tell their children daddy went to the other side.
From what I read a transsexual, not trans-gender, who had sex change surgery has been, for a long time, legally allowed to marry in not only NY but many other states to what then would be an opposite sex person so the passing of this law would have no effect upon them. Oh forgot, some of them are transgender/transvestites driven by fetishism and although castrated still love women and might then be asking for same sex marriage. DUH!!!!
    • PoohBear  •  10 mths ago
So do straight couples get to marry in these "special ceremonies" as well, or just the gays...because they need special rights. Notice how we now have a new class of citizens in our society. There is no money for education in NY for the kids, but NY has no problem opening the courthouse at taxpayer expense, including overtime, so that this "special class" of people can get married. Because they need rights above the rest of us.

The fact that our kids in America get a sub-par education is fine with NY's government, but these same states that are flat broke will bend over backwards (no pun intended) to make sure a minority class of people (less than 10% of the population) gets what they want.

Hey that's great. You can be sure the gays will descend in droves upon child-friendly venues like Disney World or some other theme park and aggressively show us how much they "love" each other by doing open displays of debauchery. How wholesome. And if we don't want to see it, they be able to shout "homophobes!" as if that carries any weight or shame anymore.

Last week I had to HOT LOOKING LESBO'S in the room next to me celebrating their honeymoon YEAH BABY GOOD STUFF I didn't even ned to put an ear to the wall.
    • Jeffrey J  •  10 mths ago
I hope they advertise so I am not present. Do what ever you like just let me do what I like and stop throwing it in my face or I will throw up back.

On a side note: please all you gays get married (not sure what that gets you?) but get married and stop crying about it. Then you can start geting divorced and enter into the real world. But I think the courts will shut down, who will pay who? usually the females get 1/2 and then you get to pay them for years plus expenses plus plus plus. So with 2 gay guys? or 2 lesbins? How can they pay each other? God this will be fun to watch!!!!!!

      good luck

I here they want to adopt straight peoples' babies to try and make them gay too. I think this will cause abortion rates to go up as most people don't want their offspring to be gay. When you give your baby up for adoption, you do so hoping they will go to a decent family. Now there are fewer guarantees of that.

You can say it is not so but as long as a state or country condones and legalizes homosexual behavior a curse will come upon that state and nation until there is mass repentance. God is judging America and has been for some time. His blessings are disappearing as our leaders defy His Word and promote sin that is evil such as homosexuality which is a stench in the nostrils of God.
If this country would pass a Constitutional Amendment defining real marriage , then there might be hope that God would begin to restore this nation along with banning the killing of unborn babies in their mothers wombs. This two sins are why America will be brought down more than any other reason.
Our hope is not in government , but in God(Jehovah) and His son Jesus the Christ. The spirit of the anti-Christ has blinded the minds of our leaders and millions of people in this land.what other way can you explain any civil society willing to legalize killing unborn children and legalizing perverted sexual behavior.
Soon, Christ will return and rule and reign on this earth for a thousand years. Then there will be a new heaven and earth.
You have time to accept Christ now and enjoy a new life of love, hope, forgiveness, peace, and purity.
