Glenn Beck to O’Reilly: Ron Paul Needs to ‘Shhhh,’ Gingrich is ‘Big Government Progressive’ and ‘Romney Scares Me’

While Glenn Beck was on FOX's "The O'Reilly Factor," he had some criticism for the Republican presidential candidates. Beck starting by "shushing" Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and said he sounded like Osama Bin Laden.

“Ron Paul needs to shhhhhh on foreign policy,” Beck said. “You sound a little like Osama Bin Laden at times.”

Wait a minute. Glenn Beck said Rep. Paul sounds like Osama Bin Laden? How does Beck justify that comparison? The following discussion on Ron Paul's foreign policy between Glenn Beck and his radio co-hosts Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere might clear things up a bit (via GBTV):

“It’s not America’s fault," Beck said to O'Reilly, "and I don’t think Ron Paul gets that.”

“And he never will,” O’Reilly agreed.

After the Paul criticism, Beck and O’Reilly went through the list of the other GOP candidates and offered their critiques.

Beck said that while former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is the “the best at a debate,” he is also a “big government progressive.” Beck also slammed Gingrich for quoting Andrew Jackson during Monday’s debate.

“This guy has quoted and loved every President I think is despicable!” Beck said.

However, despite what Beck thinks about Gingrich's shortcomings, he believes that the former Speaker is “right on the Middle East.”

And as for the current frontrunner and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Beck has this to say: “Mitt Romney scares me because I don’t think he sees the Fed as a problem.”

Ron Paul is right on many things. He is also least political and most honest. I do not support any republicans but I have to say it: media , left and right ignore him so much that it is embarassing to watch. CNN has been doing analysis of the debate for an hour now. No mention of Ron Paul whatsoever. And I repeat, I am not his supporter, but seriously!!!!!!!!

There is a reason why Ron is either ignored or smeared, the Establishment opposes individual liberty and wants to continue our corporatist warfare/welfare state.

I guess you like being controlled by the system? Nothing will change with the same type of handpicked NWO elites elected to the POTUS.

I disagree with Ron Paul on many issues, but he has finished steadily in the top two or three spots in all these primaries and all the stories are about the other candidates 'surging' only to fade a week later. You don't hear much about Paul's consistent presence in the top tier. I wonder if you added all the votes together if he wouldn't have more than any of the other candidates? He is definitely being ignored and is the only candidate that has the potential to produce real change. The choice is between more (Romney) or less (Obama) a continuation of Bush or something completely different: Ron Paul.

He sucks in ignorant people so he can make $ off of them.

He actually has it figured out. The ignorance exists in the un-informed. Beck is extremely well informed. He could be the cryer who stands and shouts of impending doom while the dolts of the city laugh all the way to their distruction.

A shush from Glenn Beck is akin to an endorsement for Ron Paul.
      • abe l 4 mths ago
actually it is, Glenn beck backtracked and would rather support Ron Paul over Mitt Romney and Gingrich, because although he believes paul is weak in foreign policy, he sees the danger of America becoming a fascist state with Gingrich and Romney.
      • Groucho Marxist 4 mths ago
Ironic that is, I had a strange thought over a beer earlier this evening, that maybe you can set me straight on. Is it possible that Paul and Gingrich could work together on the same ticket? I mean, could they curb each other's extremism and use their charisma to win? Or should I drink another beer and just forget about the next 4 years?

Every time Beck opens his mouth and somebody listens, it's one more vote for Obama!

The Glenn Beck Program and the AA Program are far from the same thing. He claims to be a recovering alcoholic and yet practices none of the steps. Interesting.

Good point! Giving up the very values that set him free of his old prison has only led him into another prison. The problem is, he gets to broadcast his sick thoughts from his new prison.

I see where Beck may be coming from here, but unfortunately Ron Paul is right on for criticizing the military industrial complex. I don't think someone who is honestly passionate about preventing war, and only going to war as a last resort can be expected not to speak up. I don't believe a man with Ron Pauls ethics would allow him to be silent on this matter.
    • Mike Johnson  •  4 mths ago
Typical Glenn Beck if you don't agree with him you are a Bin Laden loving fascist, communist, secular, pro-big government, anti-military, liberal. I don't understand how you can be against big government but be for the military industrial complex and police state needed to keep drugs illegal but Glenn Beck is. I guess if a Government worker goes around arresting people they don't count as big government

So says the guy that helped get Rick Perry re elected as Governor of Texas by throwing Debra Medina under the bus as a "truther" and then promptly moves to Texas. What tax breaks did Beck get for that?

What a complete sham conservatism has become in America.

I remember the Shah of Iran, well known as the American installed Military Dictator. The good people of Iran rightly over-threw him. It is blowback. What's not to get?

None of the candidates have an economic policy like Paul's. The reason why they can not support ending American debt, is because it would mean ending war that many have invested in. Unfortunately, it's on our (college students) heads.
    • NeoConMan101  •  Chico, California  •  4 mths ago
I dont think Glenn Beck realizes he sounds a lot like Bin Laden. Ron Paul is the only one who speaks the TRUTH about foreign policy, and he clearly doesnt think America is to blaim. Why do these talking head, media types continue to misrepresent Ron Paul and the TRUTH?
    • Red Planet  •  Melbourne, Australia  •  4 mths ago
Beck and O'Reilly? These two clowns aren't worthy to stand in Ron Paul's shadow let alone question his integrity. They represent everything that is wrong with American media. Beck, the controlled opposition blabbering fool and O'Reilly the foaming at the mouth, right wing extremest. What a joke!!!
    • Janina  •  Houston, Texas  •  4 mths ago
And this champion of conservative values has not one word of contempt for a serial cheater, dead beat dad, draft avoider, bribe taker and a guy who was fired by his fellow Republicans for unethical conduct in Congress?
    • hmm...  •  Oakland, California  •  4 mths ago
Ron Paul doesn't need to edit every thought that comes out of his mouth. Thank God.

Character-wise, it's one of his greatest strengths; it shows his openness. People sense it, too. Add to that an honest, unbroken record of integrity and true public service and you get a man that's as far from flippity-floppity as a politician can get.
