Gloria Allred Reacts to Kanye West's Tweet Supporting Bill Cosby: Rapper 'Has a Lot of Nerve'

Kanye West recently showed his support for Bill Cosby with a tweet, an act that angered attorney Gloria Allred, who represents many Cosby accusers.

"Kanye West has a lot of nerve to have tweeted 'Bill Cosby innocent!'" Allred tells PEOPLE in a statement.

"I doubt that he has spoken to Andrea Constand, the alleged victim in the criminal case in which Mr. Cosby is charged with aggravated indecent sexual assault or that he has detailed knowledge of the evidence that the prosecutor may have," the victims' rights attorney shares.

Allred, 74, has been hired by 29 of the 50-plus accusers against Cosby, 78.

On Tuesday, West, 38, tweeted saying that he believes Cosby to be innocent amid legal battles regarding the comedian's sexual assault investigation.

"This is a serious criminal case and guilt or innocence should be for the jury to decide, not Kanye West," Allred says to PEOPLE adding, "Mr. Cosby's innocence or guilt should be determined in a court of law after a trial and will not be decided by a tweet."

Earlier this month, Cosby was ordered to give a second deposition in a civil lawsuit filed by Allred's client, Judy Huth, who said she was age 15 when she claims Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974. Allred first deposed Cosby in October 2015.

Cosby and his representatives have consistently denied all allegations of sexual assault or misconduct made against him by more than 50 women.
