    Goodell says NFL will continue work on concussions

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL will continue its work toward preventing concussions and other injuries, saying what's been done so far is only a starting point.

    Goodell said at his state of the NFL news conference Friday that the league has done "a great deal" to make the game safer for players. He said the league is "not done yet" and keep trying to make the game less dangerous. The league is expanding its use of sideline TV replays to help doctors.

    His comment came in response to an Associated Press story quoting a dozen former players who believe there was a culture of indifference toward concussions and other injuries in the NFL. Goodell noted that the league has set aside a lot of money to help retired players.

      It is not NFL it is medical field all around they have been slack on the way they perceive concussions. And that was bad medicine and not only bad medicine but why in the world would they have ever taken concussions so fly off the bat lightly? They can cause problems for the rest of your life. Maybe the big medical hospitals or trauma centers have better doctors but not in my world do they. And they say it is procedure. When is it procedure to say you will be OK in a just matter of time yet the next month you still have about 4-6oz black blood coming out of you nose and 4 years later you still have not normal smelling. I smell even the things in the linen closets like bars of soap in wrappers with the doors shut and me in another room I can smell them and they make me want to puke. I can smell things in peoples clothes and on their skin and hair as they pass me like trace elements of galvanize that zinc stuff. Just the air from outside in the clothes of people when they come into my house I can smell the air in their clothes like stale water and plant debris and even exhaust.

      It was the player's dream to play pro football. A rough and dangerous game. THEIR CHOICE. Goodell needs to go. He's pussifying the game.

      Want to make real progress on the issue? How about starting with former players who have health problems with sketchy pension and medical benefits. Making a pledge to allocate resources and funding to address this issue would show sincerity and demonstrate you are more interested in results that rhetoric.

      The players knew their occupation was dangerous but took the bucks offered in their day - no sympathy for the whiners like Dorset.

      At least as far as I know none of the players were forced to play football rather than go on to another profession.
