Sorry, Facebook (FB), but you’re about to get some company in the billion global users club. During an interview with AllThingsD, Google (GOOG) chairman Eric Schmidt projected that there will be more than 1 billion Android devices activated by this time next year if the company keeps up its current pace of activating 1.3 million per day. Schmidt said last month that there are around 480 million Android devices active worldwide, so the number of Android devices would have to more than double over the next year to hit Schmidt’s 1 billion device projection.
