    Google Confirms Jelly Bean Platform By Adding Delicious Statue to Campus Lawn

    In the hours leading up to the developer conference, the search engine giant has added a statue of jelly beans to its campus lawn -- a move that officially confirms its next-generation Android mobile operating system will be called "Jelly Bean."

    Google, which posted a picture of the statue to its on Tuesday, is gearing up to host its developer conference where a collection of new products and news will likely come out of the event, including details about the latest version of Android.

    The statue joins other dessert-shaped structures that represent Android's previous platforms. In alphabetical order, they are as follows: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich. It's been rumored for quite some time that Jelly Bean would be next, but Google hadn't confirmed the name until now.

    It's unknown at this time if Jelly Bean will be known as Android 4.1 or Android 5.0.

    Last week, Google inadvertently noted that the . Although the phone showed up on Google Play before it was taken down, screen shots of the listing had started to circulate around the web.
