GOP Rep. Peter King: Newt Gingrich ‘very ineffective,’ ‘undisciplined’ [VIDEO]
New York Republican Rep. Peter King is not a fan of his party’s current presidential front-runner, Newt Gingrich.
King, who served during Gingrich’s speakership in the late 1990s, took shots at the former House speaker’s character on Thursday’s “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Network.
“Believe it or not, I have nothing against Newt personally,” King said. “He has great revolutionary skills. He is the guy that you know brought Congress back to Republicans after 40 years, but as a leader, he’s very ineffective and he’s undisciplined. … After winning back the House in 1994, he was forced out as speaker four years later by a broad majority of people in the party. He made everything all about him and he was not able to focus.”
King said that he doubts that Gingrich has changed, either.
“I don’t think he’s changed at all,” King said. “If you listen, he’s compared his wife to Jackie Kennedy and to Laura Bush and I don’t know who else. And then he compares himself to Churchill and Thatcher and [Charles] de Gaulle. No, I mean, Newt is Newt. You don’t change when you’re 68 years old. I mean he’s almost as old as you. You don’t change at a certain stage of your life.”

Last month, King told Capital New York he would “probably end up endorsing Mitt Romney,” who he said was “the most competent candidate.”
