Gothenburg Waterpark Burns Following Explosion

At least 12 people were injured in an explosion at a waterpark in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Monday, February 12, local media reported, citing a hospital.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital said 12 people were being treated for minor injuries, according to the Goteborgs Posten. The rescue service told the paper that there were no reports of anyone missing.

Footage posted by Sofie Lowenmark showed the large fire at the new Oceana waterpark, inside the city’s Liseberg amusement park.

Aftonbladet reported that the fire started at a water attraction outside a building and then spread across the park. A waterslide melted, leaving only the steel structure, a witness told the paper.

Emergency services said the extinguishing work could continue into Monday night and Tuesday. Credit: Sofie Lowenmark via Storyful
