Gould & Lamb's Legal Services Team continues to expand with the additions of Patricia Kent and Rafael Gonzalez.

Patricia Kent, RN, JD, recently joined Gould & Lamb as Staff Counsel. She brings years of experience in Medicare Secondary Payer issues, and has also appeared as an expert witness for leading regional law firms in medical malpractice and liability insurance cases. Patricia has successfully coupled her hands-on clinical nursing experience with extensive legal knowledge to provide expertise for the clients of Gould and Lamb. As Staff Counsel, Patricia will be responsible for assisting clients with Medicare compliance with a specific concentration in liability insurance issues.
For the six years prior to joining Gould & Lamb, Patricia operated her own practice specializing in personal injury, elder law and abuse, and family law. She was responsible for all operations of a thriving law firm handling injury, family issues, guardianship cases, criminal law, contracts and business disputes. Prior to her solo practice, Patricia successfully practiced law as an associate for several law firms in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. She also provided successful testimony as a nurse expert trial witness in several high profile cases which resulted in substantial verdicts.

Patricia received her undergraduate degree from Kean University and her nursing degree from St. Petersburg College. In 2002, she received her JD from Stetson University's College of Law. She is a licensed Florida Registered Nurse and a licensed Florida Health Care Risk Manager.
Patricia is a Member of the Florida Bar, the Manatee County Chapter of Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and the Manatee County Bar Association. She also serves on the Advisory Board at Keiser University and is on the Board of Broadwater Community Association.
Rafael Gonzalez joins Gould & Lamb as Director of Medicare Compliance & Post-Settlement Administration
Gould & Lamb announces the recent hire of Rafael Gonzalez as Director of Medicare Compliance & Post-Settlement Administration. Rafael brings over 20 years of experience in the Workers' Compensation and Liability insurance industries with a specific focus on Medicare Compliance. He has been responsible for all areas of Medicare Set Aside Allocations (MSAs) including the preparation of MSAs and their approval by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In his new position at Gould & Lamb, Rafael's duties will include assisting clients with Medicare Compliance issues, specifically on Post-Settlement Administration and client education.
Immediately prior to joining Gould & Lamb, Rafael held the position of Chief Executive Officer for The Center for Medicare Set Aside Administration in Clearwater, FL. He was responsible for custodial administration of MSA accounts in no-fault, self-insured, liability and workers' compensation cases. In addition to spearheading the company's congressional and regulatory involvement, Rafael was responsible for all executive and policy decisions including product and client development and education. Prior to The Center for Medicare Set Aside Administration, he was employed by a major Florida Workers' Compensation insurance company and a prominent law firm.

In 1987, Rafael received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, and his JD in 1990 from Florida State University. He has contributed his expertise to several Workers' Compensation industry reference books, as well as having served as an adjunct professor and has been a guest lecturer at many universities in Florida.
As a frequent speaker and panelist, Rafael has participated in numerous industry seminars and conferences throughout the United States. Rafael has served on the board of several national industry-related organizations.
