Great Bend Fire/EMS extinguishes 5th wheel camper fully engulfed in flames

GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSNW) — The Great Bend Fire/EMS Department extinguished a fifth-wheel camper that was fully engulfed in flames Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Great Bend Fire/EMS Department, they were dispatched at 1:45 p.m. for the report of a fire in the 1000 block of SW 20 Rd.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews found a fifth-wheel camper that was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was spreading to nearby tires, piles of lumber, and grass.

“Crews were able to quickly stop the grass fire from spreading and begin extinguishment of the camper,” said the Great Bend Fire/EMS Department.

After the fire was extinguished, crews looked for any hidden fires.

The Great Bend Fire/EMS Department was assisted by the Albert Fire Department and the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.
