Greece: Clashes outside minister's office

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek riot police clashed with protesters who gathered outside the office of a government minister Thursday, the second day of a nationwide civil servants' strike. Police reported no arrests or injuries and said the minister wasn't present.

The clashes occurred outside the private central Athens office of Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, where protesters remained for several hours and reached the roof of the apartment building.

Greece's bailout lenders have demanded extensive public sector staff cuts, and this week reached an agreement with the government for continued cuts and austerity taxes in exchange for restarting rescue loan payments.

In Brussels, conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said the deal showed the "great improvement that Greece has gone through in the last 20 months" since his coalition government was formed.
