Groundwater, setbacks up for oil, gas discussion

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is holding a hearing on rules for sampling and monitoring of groundwater near new oil and gas wells.

People packed the hearing room for the industry regulators' meeting in Denver on Wednesday.

The groundwater tests could help show whether water has or hasn't been contaminated by drilling.

The commission will later consider testimony on how close wells can be to buildings, including as schools and homes.

Decisions are not expected until next month.
