Guam woman charged with fatally stabbing husband

HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — A 33-year-old mother is being held on $500,000 bond after police say she fatally stabbed her common-law husband in their Toto apartment.

Amor Litulumar Balbin was arrested Tuesday night and charged with murder after police found Stanfield Albert stabbed on his couch.

The Pacific Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1npkSy0 ) that the criminal complaint says two other adults were in the apartment when the alleged crime occurred. They both told police Balbin stabbed Albert and then fled, according to the complaint.

A neighbor told police that she knocked on his door asking for help. "I did something wrong," she allegedly told the neighbor.

The suspect's younger brother, Anres Balbin, who lives in the apartment, told the newspaper that his sister had become more emotional and quick to anger since having her two children, who are both younger than 2. A messy house or unwashed dishes could set her off, he said, but added that the couple had a good relationship and that he could not comprehend her stabbing her husband.

The brother described Albert as a stocker at the 7-Day Supermarket in Yona who was friendly and generous, cooking for others and loaning money to people in need. The 38-year-old father was "a very good guy" who was "always helping," Anres Balbin said.

Amor Balbin allegedly stabbed Albert at around 9 p.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead an hour later at Naval Hospital, police said.
