Guatemalan E-cards, ADN analysis and online medical check-ups: Guatemala’s global offers, among others, during Service Summit 2011

The AGEXPORT Services Sector is preparing novelties and advances Guatemala has had related to export services to present them during the third edition of Service Summit to take place September 29 and 30.

    Guatemala (PRWEB) July 08, 2011

AGEXPORT’s Export Service Sector entrepreneurs have defined the third edition of the Service Summit as the Summit to Export Services whose objective is to promote outsourcing from the Central and Meso American region in the global markets.

“One of our goals for this edition is to become the Central American platform for exporting services, and with that in mind we have coordinated meetings to enter into partnerships and do business with companies that will visit us from the Meso American region”, stated Mr. Alfonso Muralles, President of the Service Summit Organizing Committee.

With support from the PACIT program and the European Union through its All Invest program, Service Summit 2011 will have more than 80 international participating companies of the Sofex, Digital Contents, Contact Centers, Labs, Sustainable and Wellness Tourism sectors. The latter have programmed tours to show the new tourist destinations Guatemala offers, as well as the latest in medical and aesthetic care technology.

“During the past decade Guatemala has advanced enormously in the exportable services sector; one example is the Lab Sector that annually invests around two million US dollars in equipment, staff training and facilities, all of which has turned Guatemala into the regional country where main equipment, supply and regional labs have opened their headquarters” expressed Mr. Muralles.

Nevertheless, those advances need support and for that, among the different activities to be executed during the show, there will be a Public Policy Innovation Summit during which Guatemalan presidential candidates and their technical teams will be presented with a proposal regarding necessary policies to promote the Information and Communication Technology sector in Guatemala, as a country strategy for development and to generate employment. Mr. Muralles added:

“The Service Export sectors have opened employment opportunities for both youth and seniors, as is the case with the Contact Centers’ sector that in 2008 offered 7,554 positions and now has 16,400 jobs; all sectors add up to this job creation opportunities. However, we need to work on training human resource, because technical and English language formation is not responding to market expectations”.

Through Service Summit 2011 Guatemala is opening its doors to leaders of Information and Communication Technology Associations and Chambers of 21 countries, to product and technology service supply companies, national and regional mass media, representatives of local and international Government institutions, and to more than 60 international buyers and brokers from countries and regions such as Mexico, the United States, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and South America.

A medium term business projection of US$.25 million is expected among the 6 participating sectors, and more than 600 persons will receive training about topics of interest such as the importance of knowledge about technical guidelines to market food, information technology outsourcing trend, Guatemala’s advantages for the industry and Central American regional trends, USA healthcare reform implications and their impact on Latin America, converging solutions forum, etc.

“We are sure that Service Summit 2011 will be the opportunity to promote a more unified Central American services offer; the event even coincides with two large meetings in the country: the Annual Latin America, Caribbean and Spain Information Technologies meeting (ALETI) and the Tour Operators to Promote Sustainability (TOPS) meeting”, said Mr. Muralles.
