    What one issue should the nation address in the next four years? Yahoo News asked Americans to pinpoint something that affects them or their communities -- alongside a photo that visualizes that issue.

    COMMENTARY | Executive orders by President Barack Obama will restrict the purchase and ownership of military-style assault guns. Banning the purchase of these types of guns prevents many innocence people from being killed at one time.

    Included in the orders, they should add that if a person is caught with this type of gun in their possession, they should be sentenced to at least 90 days in jail.

    I live in Texas. I believe that a citizen should have a right to own a handgun. If you own a handgun, you should be required to attend a gun-orientation class and be documented. I took a beginner's course at the American Shooting Centers in Houston. It was suggested because I had never used a firearm before. I was pursuing my concealed handgun license. We practiced shooting at targets from several distances outward using a 45-caliber gun.

    Along with owning a gun, you should practice safety procedures by keeping it locked up.

    If new legislation is passed that penalize people for having assault weapons, the chance of having mass shootings will be ultimately reduced.
