Gunman Shot Four, One Dead, At Seattle Pacific University
Four people have been shot and one is dead at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, KIRO 7 reports.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Otto Miller Hall, an academic building on campus. All buildings on campus were put on lockdown and traffic surrounding the school was blocked. The police have one suspect in custody.
The people shot were taken to Harborview Medical Center. One of the victims, a man in his 20s, has died. Three of the other victims are a 20-year-old woman listed in critical condition, a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man.
Police initially reported that they were looking for two suspects, caused by confusion when a man attempted to take the shooters gun away, but later said there was only one. They described the suspect as a white male armed with a shotgun. Staff were able to disarm the gunman as he was reloading.
Seattle Pacific University is a Christian university with 4,000 students. It is 10 miles from downtown Seattle.
This is the first school shooting in Seattle since the April 2, 2007 shooting at the University of Washington that left two dead, including the gunman.
