Hamas offers some details on prisoner swap deal

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Hamas official has provided some details about a prisoner swap deal that will free more than 1,000 Palestinians in exchange for an Israeli soldier held captive in Gaza for the past five years.

The official says that out of the 450 Palestinian prisoners to be released in the first phase, some 272 will be allowed to return to their homes in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and Israel.

The remaining 178 are likely to be deported to third countries or the Gaza Strip, if they are not from that territory.

The deportations will be a blow to the prisoners' families, many of whom have waited decades to see their loved ones.

The Hamas official who provided the figures on Thursday spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release them.

NO worries. They can simply get into Egypt and then through to Gaza. Soon enough they will reunite with their families.

When it happens it happens, before then do not celebrate.

This is a tear sticked admonition. based on the assumption that you care for one
more than Islam cares for one thousand. If no other thing could tell you to avoid
Islam like a killer disease. My God there are so many faiths to embrace that
are not so evil. Wish I could live in a place that would except any faith other than
evil Islam. I am studying Buddha.

One young Israeli soldier exchanged for 1,027 (men, women and children) Palestinian detainees. A lopsided equation. Speaks volume about how the Jews value their own. Palestinians should relocate to some other Arab countries to practice their faith. They could go to Iran, Qatar, Tunisia or even Libya. The territory is Israel's and should not be negotiated.

You do realize that even Hamas has called these people being released "terrorists" don't you?
      • Cracker Barrel 7 mths ago
So the Palestinian Christians should relocate?
      • tony 7 mths ago
Every Palestinian Muslim is a terrorist, they are the enemy. Given space they will embark on suicide bombings. They give no value for their own lives why should others have value for them.

Unbelievable that this AP piece laments the plight of the families of these released prisoners who will be deported and makes no mention of the hundreds of families of innocent Israelis murdered by these prisoners. Just another reminder how the lives of Jews are considered worth less than of others.

And yet...they trade 1000 pals for one israeli.

You better rethink the value of a life. Not a one for one trade...1000 to one. Makes the pals look like dogsh!t, which is appropriate.

The Palestinians are releasing 100% of their Israeli prisoners. Israel is releasing 14% of its Palestinian prisoners. If the game is about leverage, this is the more important statistic.

i hate war and from that reason i dont like Hamas.

Personally I do not agree with the deal. The terrorists released will all want to become martyrs rather than have a productive life. There is no way Hamas will ever be allowed to launch another raid without Israel delivering a fatal blow to the entire Hell hole called Gaza.

When are we going to stop our blind support to Israel? He is Israeli more than anything else. Did he serve in the US army or he just used his US passport as a privilege! This is typical Israeli behavior! We aid Israel $3 billion a year! Why? This money could be spent to help thousands of Americans who lost their jobs but were tax payers in the past. What do we get back from Israel? In return, it controls our media, our financial institutions, our foreign policy, and our government!! The faith of this Great Nation is controlled by this illegitimate state. Shame on us… Wake Up...

These murderers (worst of the worst) will be deported but they will eventually find their way back. If found, they should be shot on sight.

One Israeli soldier's worth? Over 1 000 Palestinian prisoners, over 400 of whom are bloodthirsty practitioners of violence upon a civilian population.

The logic of this 'deal' is that I kill who I like, my friends then kidnap somebody and demand my freedom. If this 'common sense' were applied to other situations then how many other murderers would be walking around freely having been released on the same basis?

This is a victory for terrorism. Perhaps some believe that is a good thing, but most people must surely see this as a very bad day for Israel. Quite clearly Hamas will continue to kidnap Israelis in order to bargain them for killers in jail.

The humanity of freeing Shalit is of course relevant. As human beings anyone would have sympathy with his and his family's situation. But undoubtedly many more Israelis will die as a result of this decision so the moral arguments are not clear cut.

Lets be clear that so long as Hamas is linked to Iran it cannot fulfil anything but a negative role for Palestinians
    • Jeff  •  7 mths ago
Gilad Shalit had not killed anyone. Many of those released have...in fact most have.
There are 600 Israelis, mostly civilians, were killed by those 1000+ released Palestinian terrorists.
The difference here is that one innocent person is worth 1000 murderers many of whom will go right out and kill again.
I think the murderers have got the better end of the deal.

I'm still betting this poor kid is dead and they're just trying to get as much as they can before they have to reveal that. I hope I'm wrong but if I had to put money on this that's the way I would play it.

that is how it is these days. a theif breaks into your home, and if you defend your home, you are the guilty one! the whole process of justice is always for the enemy, nothing fair for the innocent!

What, me worry! I think this shows the relative value Muslim leaders place on their own people. Obviously they believe one Jew is worth a thousand Muslims. Of course when the Muslim religious and political leaders send their own people to blow up their own people what else would you expect.

Interesting how one live is worth 1000 lives of others!!! It makes you think!!!
