Hamas says does not plan to quit Syria

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas said on Saturday it does not plan to move its headquarters out of unrest-hit Syria.

"There is no change, and Hamas has not taken any decision to leave Syria, and we are still there," spokesman Fawzi Barhum told AFP.

He said the constant travels to Arab states of the movement's Damascus-based chief Khaled Meshaal and other officials were aimed at consolidating Arab support for the Palestinian cause and inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

On Sunday, Meshaal is to make his first visit to Amman since he was expelled from the kingdom in 1999.

Hamas leaders will "keep Syria as their base even if they are obliged to stay away from the country a little more than before," said a Palestinian official in Gaza City, on condition of anonymity.

"Hamas will not close its offices in Damascus and will not leave the country," he said, although "for reasons of security some leaders may feel obliged at times to leave the country."

Syria, a firm supporter of the Islamist movement, has been hit by more than 10 months of deadly anti-regime protests.

Fighting Islamic terrorism is not unlike fighting a deadly cancer. It can't be treated just where it's visible - every diseased cell in the body must be destroyed.

If we are lucky we can get a two for one deal and take out Assad and Hamas at the same time. Talk about garbage - sigh.

Hamas is not a "Islamist movement", its unequivocally internationally labeled as a terrorist organization for the hundreds of attacks it has committed murdering Israeli civilians, and its clearly stated charter calling for the destruction of Israel and the genocide of Israel's Jews. Calling Hamas an Islamist movement is like calling Bin Ladin the majority leader of Congress. Its just a misleading lie.

The Arabs had their chance of a state in 1948: they got the land on which they were a majority and the Jews got the land on which they were a majority.

The Jews accepted but the Arabs declined because they thought they could win all of the land for themselves and (in their own words) "... drive the Jews into the sea...." .

They failed and failed royally. And again in 1967. And again in 1973.

Why we should have sympathy for a group who started and lost a war of aggression is beyond me.

What a shock that racist murdering terrorist muslims would find comfort in Syria.

Meshaal left Syria with his family because he knows it is a dangerous place and he and his terrorist group are cowards. They let the ignorant fight their cause while they collect the money and pocket it. They are getting out while the getting is good.

"Can Muslims be Good Americans?......HERE ARE THE FACTS: Can a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal citizen? Consider this: Theologically, no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia. Scripturally, No. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran). Geographically, No. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day. Socially, No. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews. Politically, No. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan. Domestically, No, because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34). Religiously, No, Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256) Intellectually, No. because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt. Philosophically, No, because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and _expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic. Spiritually, No, because when we declare “one nation under God,” the Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as our heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran’s 99 excellent names. Therefore after much study and deliberation..... Obviously, they cannot be both good Muslims and good Americans. A fact: Every fourth person on earth is a Muslim. If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with the above, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more who understand what we are up against, the better it will be for our country. The war is bigger than we know."

The 1947 UN Partition Plan recommended the creation of a special regime in Jerusalem, including Bethlehem, under UN administrating.
The regime was planed to remain FOR 10 years.
Then, a referendum supposed to be held to DECIDE THE FUTURE regime of the city.
If that referendum WERE HELD NOW, the residents would overwhelmingly vote for Israel.
When JORDAN occupied and controlled East Jerusalem, they EXPELLED ALL JEWS, destroyed Jewish synagogues and institutions, harassed Christians and neglected churches.
Why did the UN allow that?
