"Harry Potter" producer goes horror
14 Feb – It was announced last September that DreamWorks is planning a movie adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's "Shadow and Bone", a story about a nation being torn in two by a near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters that feast on human flesh, and now "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman is set to take on the project and has announced that Christopher Kyle is writing the screenplay.
Christopher Kyle is known for his screenwriting for Kathryn Bigelow's "K19: The Widowmaker" and Oliver Stone's "Alexander, starring Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie.
"Shadow and Bone", the first novel of the planned "Grisha Trilogy" will concentrate on a young woman who needs to save her country from flesh eating creatures with her newly discovered powers. The young woman is still yet to be cast.
David Heyman, known for producing the famous "Harry Potter" films and mentoring the wizarding trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, was already set to work on the film last year, and will now work with newly hired screenwriter Christopher Kyle to adapt the film.
Heyman hasn't been wrong before as he secured "Potter" rights from JK Rowling in the late 90s, and with the planned second book in the "Grisha Trilogy" still not out yet, the upcoming "Shadow and Bone" will be well worth the wait.
