SANDY, Utah (AP) — U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch and former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist (lihl-IHN'-kwihst) have advanced to a second round as delegates to Utah's Republican convention pick a nominee.
Hatch is seeking a seventh term and trying to overcome the stiffest challenge of his career.
Hatch received 57 percent of the vote in the first round, while Liljenquist got 28 percent.
The candidates will speaks to the delegates again before a second round of voting by the nearly 4,000 delegates.
If neither receives more than 60 percent of the vote, the two will advance to a June 26 primary.
