A member of the public has been praised for bringing down a suspected drug dealer by tripping him up.

CCTV footage has emerged of the have-a-go hero sticking his foot out and foiling the suspect on the streets of London.

The unknown member of the public casually put his leg out and tripped up the 17-year-old male suspect on Saturday night in Kingston, before police officers tackled the teenager.

He was so nonchalant about the the whole thing that he strolled off into the night without even waiting to see the outcome of the police chase.

The smartly-dressed man was praised for his actions, while the suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He was taken to a police station and bailed to a date in early April.

Sergeants Dave and Will from the Kingston Police Town Centre Team tweeted: “Great work by this member of public - coming to the aid of @MPSGroveSNT as they chased a suspect through #Kingston.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “On Saturday, 6 February at 23:20 hours, officers on patrol near to Clarence Street, Kingston were made aware of a report of two males seen dealing drugs at the location.
