Having Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book battery problems? Try this trick
Microsoft just started selling the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 in stores. Both laptop/tablet 2-in-1s have generated plenty of interest but that doesn’t mean either device is perfect. In fact, there are at least a couple of issues affecting early buyers, including screen flickering and battery draining.

WinBeta brings us word that some users say they’ve found the culprit that has been apparently draining the new devices’ batteries. It turns out that Windows Hello, the iris-scanning login option that’s available on both new Surface devices, might be at fault.
“Through lots of trial and error, I think I found the problem,” a user wrote on Microsoft’s official support forum. “It’s Windows Hello. Turn it on: get 5 hours of connected standby. Turn it off: get 87 hours of connected standby.”
If that doesn’t fix it for you, then you can always run “powercfg/sleepstudy” from the command line with admin privileges to see what processes kept up your CPU during sleep mode.
One other option would be setting the computer to hibernate rather than sleep from your power options.
The problem will likely be fixed in a future Surface update, especially if it’s affecting a considerable number of customers.
As for the Surface Book’s screen flickering issue, Microsoft confirmed the display problem will be corrected in a future update.
