    Health Tip: Healthy Fats? They Exist

    (HealthDay News) -- All fats shouldn't be treated equal. Your body craves certain "healthy" fats, which are unsaturated fats mostly found in plant-based foods.

    The womenshealth.gov website says these foods are good sources of "healthy" fats:

    • Olive, canola and peanut oils.
    • Most types of nuts.
    • Avocados.
    • Safflower and sunflower oils.
    • Corn oil, soybean oil and cottonseed oil.
    • Fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel and trout, as well as flaxseed, all of which are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

      Soybean oil as opposed to coconut oil??? The soybean industry sure had me fooled for awhile. A campaign by them over a number of years has had the effect of convincing many, many people in many areas of the world that "saturated fats" means "bad fats. Not so with coconut oil. It is far better for people than soybean oil. How did this happen? Imagine for a moment the relative strengths of the public relations arms of the soybean industry and the coconut industry. That's okay... now that I know, for me, what to eat and what not to. You can take care of yourself.

        as long you never leave tropical place then sure. coconuts grow in 80 degree climates so the oil is liquid at room temperature. it'll be solid at lower temperatures and clog your arteries. it is a good thing you regulate body temperature to keep them liquid, but nonetheless things are "stickier" based on where their mp is.

        Coconut oil is a saturated oil and thus solid at room temp. However it is naturally saturated as opposed to chemically saturated. Eliminate all hydrogenated oils.the real culprit is carbohydrates. You will have problems if you eliminate fats and protein from your diet but you won't if you eliminate carbohydrates.
