    Health Tip: Strengthen Your Muscles

    (HealthDay News) -- Maintaining strong and healthy muscles is particularly important for seniors, who tend to lose muscle as they age.

    The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers these muscle-strengthening suggestions:

    • Engage in vigorous gardening, such as by shoveling or digging.
    • Lift weights, or work out with a resistance band.
    • Practice yoga.
    • Opt for exercises that naturally use your body weight for resistance, such as by performing sit ups and push ups.

      I strive for 84 minutes a day for 5 days a week but it sure is hard to stick to that routine due to pressures of everyday living and trying to keep all in check but a goal worth trying for,for a seven decades old survivor.Aging is something that if you are lucky you catch.:-)

      WHAT kind of exercise advice is that? Stretch bands and work harder in your garden? Plllleeassseeee, Up to age 40, you lift weights because you want to. After age 40, you lift weights because you HAVE to. Aging is not something "natural." It is a terrible disease that there is NO cure for. Weightlifting greatly SLOWS aging. I gag when I read "lifting soup cans while sitting on a sofa and watching 'Murder She Wrote." That is what one federal agency suggested for exercise when you grow old. Jack LaLanne is spinning in his grave.
