Hear Dzhokar Tsarnaev's Voice for the First Time (He's Eating Chicken)

You get one phone call when you're arrested, even if you're accused of blowing up the Boston Marathon. That's why today the world gets to listen to the first public tape of Dzhokar Tsarnaev since last month's terror attack.

Zubeidat Tsarnaev, the mother of the younger accused Boston bomber, shared a recording of her first and only phone call with her son since he was arrested with British television station Channel 4 News. Speaking their native Chechen with her son, Zubeidat asks if he's getting enough to eat, just like any loving mother. Dzhokar assures her everything is OK. "They are giving me rice and chicken now, everything's fine," he says. "You are my life, you need to be strong," his mother tells him. And then Dzhokar makes a small request: "Everything is good, please don't say anything."

This phone conversation is a lot different than the same one Zubeidat described to the Associated Press last week, when she quoted her son as "being driven crazy by the unfairness" and that "he didn't hold back his emotions either, as if he were screaming to the whole world: What is this? What's happening?" Tsarnaev's mother has consistently claimed her only surviving son is innocent.
