This study confirmed a previous study which shows a possible link between pot and schizophrenia? That is saying a whole lot of nothing! Confirming a possible link?

This just in- The study also revealed that 100% of those with schizophrenia had also consumed water and breathed air the study revealed.

How was this study controlled??? Doctors have known for at least 40 years that people developing "Major Mental Illnesses" are likely to try "self medication" with Alcohol, MJ, Narcs and Stimulants. This study proves nothing.

This article sounds a little paranoid to me...

The big thing to remember in the Cannabis/Schizophrenia discussion is that they constantly talk about Latent Schizophrenia. That is to say that some people are already predisposed to Schizophrenia and Cannabis SEEMS to slightly increase their risk of developing Schizophrenia...this group of people is very small and would likely develope Schizophrenia anyways.

Regardless, smoking weed all day and night is not good for anyone... Just as every other legal or illegal substance has the potential to affect you. This seems to be 'their' only remaining argument against legalization that has any legs to stand on, but they are thin and shaky legs.

Next they'll tell us that smoking marijuana is linked to X-BOX addiction and eating horrible snack foods.

the same thing could be said about alcohol. however, it all boils down to individual choice.
the government has no right to mandate what you can, and can not do with your own body.
pot should not be placed in the same category as meth

Hey, meth sucks, but perhaps people who are at risk for schizophrenia are more succeptable to drug and aclohol abuse.

I bet you could find most people with schizophrenia have used alcohol too, or maybe they ate tacos, or microwave popcorn. I call #$%$ !

More likely it is Schizophrenics self medicating. This can be irritating, but it is not the fault of the pot.

Obviously your typical stoner is generally a lot less trouble socially than an alchohol user, but a self medicating schizophrenic who happens to have chosen weed can be a handful because of the tendency to invest a lot of energy into their delusions and try and drag the people around them in. Again, this isn't marijuana's fault, and I know I should probably be more compassionate, etc. Just pointing out that when you come across a reclusive, paranoid, completely delusional pothead (usually in Oregon somewhere, but NoCal, Upstate NY, and VT are other hotbeds) it is probably a self-medicating schizophrenic, because they CAN live in certain highly sheltered environoments on the margins. It is nobody's fault - but give them a wide berth. There should be a warning label on pot that says "Mistrust Non-Secular Revelations" or simply "Don't Get All Baked And Tell Your Friends It Is The End of the World Because You are Probably Just A Self Medicating Schizophrenic." Anyway, have fun and be careful.
