After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Fla., has hired Sandra Viall as chief nursing officer. A seasoned healthcare executive with more than 20 years of nursing leadership experience, Viall will assume her new duties at Hendry Regional Medical Center on February 13.

Prior to joining Hendry Regional Medical Center, Viall was director of nursing at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Ill., where she led a staff of more than 200 nurses. She also served as director of nursing, critical care at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill., and was clinical nursing director for the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Ill.

Viall earned a Master of Science in nursing administration and a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill., and is currently studying to earn a doctorate in nursing practice in executive leadership at Governors State University in University Park, Ill. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the American Nurses Association (ANA) and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certified NE-BC.
