Here's Your First Look at The CW's iZombie and The Messengers (VIDEO)

This year, The CW would like you celebrate St. Patrick's Day by drinking less green beer and eating more brains, in honor of the debut of its new drama iZombie on Tuesday, March 17. Created by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars), the series stars Rose McIver as Liv, a medical-student-turned-zombie who takes a job in a morgue in order to gain easy access to the cerebrums she must eat to "survive." As long as she ingests frontal lobes on a regular basis, she won't decay into what Thomas calls "a Romero" a.k.a. your more typical, Night of the Living Dead-style zombie.

However, each time Liv chows down on the squishy pink stuff, she acquires a few aspects of the deceased's personality, as well as some of the person's memories, which she then uses to help a local detective (Malcolm Goodwin) solve crimes. The show is based on the comic book of the same name, but don't expect to see any of the other monsters from the source material, as it's on a strict, zombies-only diet.

The Messengers is The CW's other new midseason drama; it chronicles what happens after a mysterious object crashes to Earth and a group of five seemingly unconnected strangers die from the resulting energy pulse, only to reawaken with extraordinary "gifts." They soon discover that they're now the Angels of the Apocalypse, and they've been assigned the task of preventing the impending rapture. The Messengers stars Shantel VanSanten (One Tree Hill), Jon Fletcher (City of Dreams), Sofia Black-D'Elia (Gossip Girl), JD Pardo (Revolution), Joel Courtney (Super 8), Anna Diop (Everybody Hates Chris), Craig Frank (Mixology), and Diogo Morgado (Son of God). It premieres Friday, April 10.
