Herm boss Craig Senior to quit post and leave 'paradise'
The chief executive officer of Herm Island has announced he would be leaving the role later this year.
Craig Senior, who was made CEO in 2019, said the "time is right" to "move on from this paradise island".
He said ensuring access to a secondary school for his two children was an important factor in his decision to leave the job.
Secondary aged pupils in Herm are educated in Guernsey.
Mr Senior, who in 2023 campaigned for the island's only primary school to remain open, thanked it for the benefits it had given his daughters.
He said: "I have come to the conclusion that the time is right for me to move on from this paradise island and pursue new challenges and opportunities and, more importantly, as our children reach secondary school age, to provide them with easy access to a local secondary school, without the necessity of a daily, often weather affected ferry commute.
"We will certainly look back on our years in Herm with sincere gratitude, love, and respect."
Mr Senior said the role had been the "greatest privilege and honour".
"I would do it again tomorrow and I would do it for nothing," he said.
Herm chairman John Singer thanked Mr Senior for his "unswerving commitment" to the island.
