Herman Cain Denies Sexual Harassment Allegation: ‘Bring Me The Accuser’

ABC News’ Huma Khan, Devin Dwyer and Susan Archer report:

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s campaign is staunchly denying reports that the former chief executive of Godfather’s Pizza was involved in a sexual harassment case, saying the allegations are “questionable.”

Cain’s chief of staff, Mark Block, said on MSNBC today that the GOP candidate “has never sexually harassed anyone. Period. End of story.”

“Every negative word and accusation in the article is sourced to a series of unnamed or anonymous sources. Questionable at best,” Block said of the Politico report, which found that Cain was accused of inappropriate behavior by two women during his tenure as National Restaurant Association head from 1996 to 1999.

Per Politico, “the women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.”

Block said he is not aware of any cash settlement, and maintained Cain’s innocence.

“Mr. Cain has never sexually harassed anyone,  period,” he said, adding that when he asked his boss of the allegations, he said “the story is not true. Bring me some facts. Bring me the accuser.”

Cain, 65, will address the allegations today, Block said.

When confronted on the trail Sunday about the report, Cain refused to comment, even asking the reporter whether he had ever been accused of sexual harassment. His spokesman dubbed the accusations “garbage” and “a total distraction.”

Cain is in Washington, D.C. today, where he is first speaking about his 9-9-9 tax plan at the conservative American Enterprise Institute and then later at a luncheon at the National Press Club.

At the AEI event this morning, Cain refused to answer a question about the charges, saying that “I will go by the ground rules that my host have set,” which is discussing just his 9-9-9 plan.

According to Politico, the conversations between Cain and the two women who accused him of inappropriate behavior were “filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices.

“There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship,” the article stated.

Exactly! The Dems have nothing to gain from this....on the contrary, having Cain run against Obama is exactly what the Dems want. Duh!!! It's either Romney or Perry since they're the only ones that seem to stand a chance of running against Obama in 2012.

If the money doesn't matter, speak up now. They're slandering a presidential candidate with zero proof. It's up to Politico and these alleged women to prove he did it, not Cain to prove he didn't. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY -- NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

As a sidebar, it would seem that the men and women WITH character and integrity are nowhere to be found in this country anymore. With morals on the decline it is no wonder that we can dig up dirt on anyone and IF we have no dirt because of their Character we will sink so low in our to make some up.... and they say that religion is the screwed up part of society! Follow it faithfully without compromise and ALL of societies ills will be over.
      • Grease 6 mths ago
Nobody WITH character and integrity would even consider running for office in the first place. Though, that does rule out any and all republicans because we all KNOW that none of them have either integrity or character.

No matter who is running, or what party, these people always come out of nowhere with these stories. Are they factual, or paid stories ? Is Cain a horndog hitting on women given the opportunity ?? I do not know, maybe. Clinton did it non-stop as did Kennedy (Kennedys), and they are idolized by many. Many Catholic homes often have JFK's picture up next to the Pope and Jesus. I think we should wait and see what evidence comes forward, before breaking out the hangman's noose. Don't know if I would vote for this man, apparently he is evil because he wants sensible spending, and accountability for expenitures, much like the Tea Party people are villianized because they want an end to wasteful spending. Bad bad people. We should keep spending trillions we don't have, screw our children and grandchildren !!!! Are his tax plans doable ??? I don't know if they are just as he has them laid out, but our current plan sure ain't making it.

Regardless of party, these types of allegations should be supported with named sources. It's just not responsible journalism to air these types of indictments without anyone to stand accountable. Truth or not, Republican or Democrat no matter, journalism in this country continues to seek the lowest level of integrity.

How little we knew about "4-Careers" Herman Cain

Herman Cain is running for president. He’s not a career politician (he has never held political office). He’s known as a pizza man, but there’s a lot more to him. He’s also a computer man, a banker, and a rocket scientist. Here’s his more complete bio:

      1. Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.

      2. Master’s degree in Computer Science.

      3. Mathematician for the US Navy, where he worked on missile ballistics (making him a rocket scientist).

      4. Computer systems analyst for Coca-Cola.

      5. VP of Corporate Data Systems and Services for Pillsbury (this is the top of the ladder in the computer world, being in charge of information systems for a major corporation).

      6. All achieved before reaching the age of 35. Since he reached the top of the information systems world, he changed careers!

      7. Business Manager. Took charge of Pillsbury’s 400 Burger King restaurants in the Philadelphia area, which were the company’s poorest performers in the country. Spent the first nine months learning the business from the ground up, cooking hamburger and yes, cleaning toilets. After three years he had turned them into the company’s best performers.

      8. Godfather’s Pizza CEO. Was asked by Pillsbury to take charge of their Godfather’s Pizza chain (which was on the verge of bankruptcy). He made it profitable in 14 months.

      9. In 1988 he led a buyout of the Godfather’s Pizza chain from Pillsbury. He was now the owner of a restaurant chain. Again he reached the top of the ladder of another industry.

      10. He was also chairman of the National Restaurant Association during this time. This is a group that interacts with government on behalf of the restaurant industry, and it gave him political experience from the non-politician side.
Having reached the top of a second industry, he changed careers again!

      11. Adviser to the Federal Reserve System. Herman Cain went to work for the Federal Reserve Banking System advising them on how monetary policy changes would affect American businesses.

      12. Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. He worked his way up to the chairmanship of a regional Federal Reserve bank. This is only one step below the chairmanship of the entire Federal Reserve System (the top banking position in the country). This position allowed him to see how monetary policy is made from the inside, and understand the political forces that impact the monetary system.
After reaching the top of the banking industry, he changed careers for another time!

      13. Writer and public speaker. He then started to write and speak on leadership. His books include Speak as a Leader, CEO of Self, Leadership is Common Sense, and They Think You’re Stupid.

      14. Radio Host. Around 2007—after a remarkable 40 year career—he started hosting a radio show on WSB in Atlanta (the largest talk radio station in the country).

He did all this starting from rock bottom (his father was a chauffeur and his mother was a maid). When you add up his accomplishments in his life—including reaching the top of three unrelated industries: information systems, business management, and banking—Herman Cain may have the most impressive resume of anyone that has run for the presidency in the last half century.

Yes folk this is out press... If it sounds dirty report on it without even checking in to it to see if there is even a stitch of fact to the story. Sad but the press is becoming less news and more scandal tabloid.

Does anyone remember when a sexual assault law suit was filed against a man just for telling a woman she was wearing a nice sweater? Now if that is sexual assault then about every man has commited it, me included.
PC has gone overboard in a lot of cases and the meaning of "is" is still up for grabs.
IF Cain is guilty then he should step down but if he is being falsely accused then the accusers should be punished but it wont happen that way, remember the Duke lacrosse team? No racism just the guilty should pay for their actions but not for just accustions.

A story with un named sources about something that was "suggestive" and sexual "in nature". Big surprise from the media about a conservative candidate. But when everybody KNEW that john Edwards fathered a love child and was paying for him with political donations while his wife was fighting cancer they sat on the story for years.

For some women sexually suggestive could be something like "that dress sure looks nice" or "you look pretty" or any number of stupid things the NOW hags have been trying to convince women to complain about.

this is probably politico non sense.
