    Hermione Decks Malfoy and Other Memorable 'Harry Potter' Scenes

    Fans of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling's famous teenage wizard, typically look for favorite scenes from the books when the movies arrive in theaters. Some sequences make the final cut, others are never filmed, but a few are positively brilliant on the big screen.

    Here are five memorable scenes from the first six "Harry Potter" films:

    Harry Potter and the remembrall ("Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone")

    During broomstick lessons in the courtyard, Neville Longbottom breaks his wrist and drops his remembrall, a magical device that helps his poor memory.

    After Draco Malfoy grabs the remembrall, Harry, a supposed novice on a broomstick, chases Malfoy into the sky and demands its return. Draco throws the object at the castle wall, but Harry speeds after it, catching it with the skill of a veteran flier.

    Watching the action from her office window, Professor McGonagall recruits him for the Gryffindor House Quidditch team. Harry becomes a Seeker and has to catch an object just as small as the remembrall.

    Ron and the slugs ("Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets")

    In one of her earliest confrontations with the nasty Malfoy, Hermione Granger is called a "filthy little Mudblood" because she was born to non-magical parents.

    Enraged at this racial slur, Ron Weasley attempts to hex Draco with his broken wand, but the spell backfires. The next scene shows Ron in Hagrid's hut, vomiting up slugs as a result of his misdirected spell.

    Hermione punches Malfoy ("Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban")

    After years of listening to his abuse, Hermione finally punches Malfoy in the face while his two cronies, Crabbe and Goyle, just stare in disbelief.

    At this point in the series, Hermione has come a long way from the uptight little girl she was back in "Sorcerer's Stone." Ron calls her actions "bloody brilliant" while a pleased Hermione says "That felt good!"

    Harry and the gillyweed ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire")

    Director Mike Newell tackled one of the most challenging scenes in Harry Potter history, namely the underwater sequence in the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

    To save Ron, who has been bewitched and placed underwater by Professor Dumbledore, Harry obtains gillyweed from Neville Longbottom. After ingesting the plant, Harry is soon sporting gills, webbed fingers and flippers.

    Swimming to find Ron, Harry has to navigate through the village of the Merpeople and avoid nasty undersea creatures who want to grab him by the ankles. Harry has just one hour to retrieve his friend before losing his aquatic powers and the challenge.

    The death of Professor Dumbledore ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince")

    Returning to Hogwarts with what he and Harry think is a piece of Lord Voldemort's soul, Malfoy confronts Dumbledore in office.

    Revealing what Dumbledore knew along, namely that Malfoy was trying to kill him, the professor offers Malfoy a way to escape the clutches of the Dark Lord Voldemort. Malfoy cannot bring himself to kill Professor Dumbledore, but Professor Snape does deliver the killing curse, fulfilling a promise he made one year earlier.
