Blue Jays 7, Red Sox 2 Melky Cabrera and Jose Bautista hit back-to-back home runs off Boston ace Jon Lester in the first inning and the Toronto Blue Jays finished off a three-game sweep of the reeling Red Sox. Mark Buehrle pitched seven sharp innings to earn his Major League-high eighth win of the season, and shortstop Jose Reyes drove in two runs during a five-run second as the Blue Jays (26-22) jumped out to a 7-1 lead and won for the eighth time in 10 games. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts homered for the Red Sox (20-26), who were outscored 37-16 during their current seven-game losing streak, their longest slide since dropping eight straight to end the 2012 season. - - - Rays 5, Athletics 2 (11 innings) Sean Rodriguez hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 11th inning to give the Rays their first walk-off win of the season to end a four-game losing streak. The Rays (20-28) tied the score in the 11th with a two-out single from Desmond Jennings then surged past the Athletics (30-17). Alex Cobb, pitching for the first time since April 12, pitched six-plus scoreless innings. --- Rangers 9, Tigers 2 Yu Darvish pitched five innings of shutout ball and the Texas Rangers got two-run hits from three different players to beat Detroit, the Tigers fourth loss in a row after six straight victories. Darvish (4-2) doled out two hits until Detroit (27-16) scored twice in the sixth on an RBI double by first baseman Miguel Cabrera, now one RBI shy of the league lead at 41, and Don Kelly's run-scoring single. Texas (23-24) got a two-run home run from Shin-Soo Choo while scoring four runs in the fourth inning after three in the third. - - - Mets 5, Dodgers 3 Juan Lagares' two-out RBI single in the seventh inning broke a tie, and the New York Mets snapped a historic streak by Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke on their way to a win. Greinke gave up three runs in five innings and didn't factor into the decision to break his streak of allowing two runs or less at 21 starts - the longest since the earned run became a statistic in 1914. The Mets (21-25) ended a three-game losing streak while the Dodgers fell to 25-23. - - - Indians 8, Orioles 7 (13 innings) Carlos Santana hit a two-out, two-run, tiebreaking double in the 13th inning, and the Cleveland Indians earned a victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The Indians (23-25) tied a season high with four consecutive wins. The Orioles (23-22) lost for just the second time in 19 games when leading after seven innings. - - - Marlins 4, Phillies 3 Christian Yelich hit a two-out, bases-loaded, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Miami Marlins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia (20-24) scored three runs in the eighth to tie the game but the Marlins (25-23) took two out of three in the series against their National League East rivals. - - - Braves 5, Brewers 4 Pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit singled home two runs off Will Smith in the seventh inning, and the Braves defeated the Brewers. The Braves (26-20) trailed 4-2 going into the seventh, after a six-inning solo homer by Milwaukee (28-20) center fielder B.J. Upton, but bounced back to win. - - - White Sox 3, Yankees 2 After missing five weeks on the disabled list because of a flexor muscle strain in his left arm, Chris Sale retired the first 17 batters he faced to beat the New York Yankees. The Yankees (24-22), who scored twice in the ninth off Chicago closer Ronald Belisario to make it interesting, managed just one hit against Sale (4-0) during his six-inning performance. - - - Cardinals 4, Diamondbacks 2 First baseman Allen Craig's two-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning snapped a tie and the Cardinals went on to a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Shane Robinson went 3-for-4 for St. Louis (26-21), including a two-out, two-run double in the sixth that erased the Diamondbacks' 2-0 lead. - - - Pirates 3, Nationals 1 Edinson Volquez pitched six strong innings to win for the first time in more than a month and center fielder Andrew McCutchen drove in two runs and made an outstanding game-ending catch as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Washington Nationals. The Pirates (20-26) won for just the third time in 10 games while Washington fell to 24-23. - - - Mariners 3, Astros 1 Michael Saunders beat out an infield ground ball to drive two runs with two outs in the seventh inning, breaking a 1-1 tie. Mariners reliever Dominic Leone (1-0) earned his first career victory by throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Seattle closer Fernando Rodney retired the side in order in the ninth for his 12th save of the season. - - - Cubs 5, Padres 1 Former Padres first baseman Anthony Rizzo hit a go-ahead two-run homer, and right-hander Jake Arrieta allowed one run on four hits over six innings as the Chicago Cubs defeated San Diego in the opener of a four-game series.
