Hilfenhaus blames surfeit of T20 cricket for anomalies in bowling action

Sydney, Nov 16(ANI): Australia fast bowler has claimed playing too much Twenty20 cricket has caused defects in his action as he struggles to regain the rhythm for Test cricket. The Tasmanian swing bowler had a far from ideal preparation for the Test series against South Africa, playing only one Sheffield Shield match after being in Sri Lanka and South Africa in September and October for the Twenty20 World Cup and Champions League. Although Hilfenhaus was economical at the Gabba with 2-73 and 0-26, his two scalps were tailenders Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, and he battled to find the consistency that was a hallmark of his comeback against India last summer. "I think with the T20 format, I find that when I do too many yorkers I try and sling it in and my arm gets a bit lower to try and get that little bit of reverse (swing)," News.com.au quoted Hilfenhaus, as saying. "That's a little technical thing which needs a little bit of tweaking, but I think when you go back to the four-day format, it's just as important to make sure you go back to what you know is right," he added. "I guess I'm close to it (the form showed against India), probably not the quite the same rhythm at the moment but that is something that will come the more and more time spent out in the middle," he said.
