    A History of Saul Bass; Courtney Love Has Some Brazil Theories

    We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every afternoon The Atlantic Wire highlights the day's video clips that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention.

    Saul Bass designed terrific titles sequences for terrific movies like Psycho, North by Northwest, and Casino before his death in 1996. Those are all in display in Art of the Title editor Ian Albinson two minute through Bass's work, along with his equally terrific contributions to less memorable movies like Grand Prix, The War of the Roses, and Nine Hours to Rama. The compilation is hypnotic, and it doesn't even touch on all of the iconic posters he designed.  [Art of the Title via Deadline]

    On Morning Joe Tuesday, Bob Costas told Willie Geist that his interview with Jerry Sandusky on Rock Center was originally just going to feature Joseph Amendola, the former Penn State defensive coordinator's attorney.     Courtney Love made an odd, profane, Courtney Love-esque series of statements during a recent concert in Brazil. Everything was strange, but nothing quite matched her claim that she wrote the Smashing Pumpkins song "Disarm." And none of it would have happened if the crowd didn't coax her on with an anti-Foo Fighters chant. That's knowing your performer.  [HervalJR via Vulture]

    We understand why the movie version of Nick Flynn's memoir Another Bullshit Night In Suck City had to be retitled, but did Focus Features really have to pick something as uninspiring as Being Flynn? Wouldn't Another Night have sufficed? That's our complaint about the movie's first trailer. Everything else looks golden. And it's encouraging to see Robert De Niro looking like Robert De Niro again.
