Although far from an all-new model, Honda has a sharp refresh for the popular Honda CBR500R.

“For 2016, the CBR500R receives striking updates, and we’re happy to unveil it here at AIMExpo. Both of these machines draw from the successful racing DNA of the CBR600RR and CBR1000RR, which return for 2016 with new colors,” said Lee Edmunds, Manager of Motorcycle Marketing Communications at American Honda.

For the CBR500R, it gets a new LED headlight, lighter weight and more aggressive sounding muffler, an adjustable front brake lever, smoother gear-change feel (according to Honda), a larger fuel tank with a hinged fuel cap and front suspension with adjustable preload. No price announced yet, but the 2015 retailed for $6,299, so expect to see mid to high 6,000. It’ll be available early next year.

The CBR1000R has also not changed, but I can’t figure if that’s a good thing or not. Honda as appeared to be the company that couldn’t care less what the competition is doing. Like the rebel in high school who will still wear his Jean jacket to prove he’s not influenced by fads, while also being confident enough to pull it off.
