Honor Flight Kern County 49 returns to Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — After spending a busy three days in Washington D.C., veterans on Honor Flight Kern County 49 returned home to Bakersfield last night.

It was a rousing welcome home for the 100 local veterans. Family members, friends and fellow vets showed up with patriotic signs, packing Meadows Field Airport.

Firefighters extinguish 3-alarm fire in thrift store

Their mission is to make sure the heroes know how much they’re loved and appreciated.

The group left Monday morning for our nation’s capital to see the monuments built in their honor.
