Hot temps expected into weekend in parts of Mich.

DETROIT (AP) — The National Weather Service says hot and humid weather that could be hazardous is in the forecast for parts of Michigan through Saturday.

The weather service issued heat advisories for Thursday across southern Michigan, where temperatures in the upper 90s were expected in places. Officials urged caution, since the heat could be dangerous especially to the elderly and young children, as well as those who will be exposed to the heat all day.

In Detroit and other parts of southeast Michigan, hot temperatures were expected into the weekend. The weather service says thunderstorms also could break out at times.

Air quality alerts also were issued. The weather service says record highs could be broken on Thursday or later in the week.
