Hot Topic CFO McGinty resigns, Wehlitz to serve as interim CFO

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (AP) -- Hot Topic's chief financial officer, Jim McGinty, has resigned.

The clothing and accessories company said Tuesday that George Wehlitz will serve as interim CFO.

McGinty had worked for Hot Topic Inc. for the past 12 years. His resignation is effective March 29.

The 52-year-old Wehlitz became vice president of finance at Hot Topic in 2008. He previously served as CFO at motorcycle clothing and accessories company Cycle Gear Inc. Before joining Cycle Gear, Wehlitz worked at Hot Topic from February 2002 through November 2005 serving as vice president, controller in 2002 and then as vice president of finance from August 2003 to November 2005.

Hot Topic runs its namesake stores as well as Torrid, which sells clothing, accessories and lingerie to women sizes 12 and up. The company is also testing a new retail store concept called Blackheart that offers, beauty products, lingerie and accessories.

Hot Topic had 619 Hot Topic stores in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, 190 Torrid stores and 5 Blackheart stores as of Dec. 29.

Its shares shed 2 cents to $11.26 in morning trading Tuesday.
