    Hot tub installation on campus roof a mystery

    ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Officials are puzzled over a mysterious hot tub that was installed — and then removed — from the roof of a building on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor.

    But a group of "creative" students are believed to be the culprits, Computer Science and Engineering building spokesman Steven Crang told (http://bit.ly/x5jEya ) AnnArbor.com on Friday.

    Initially reported by the Michigan Daily campus newspaper, the hot tub first was noticed Saturday, had visitors and was gone by Monday night.

    "People were kind of flabbergasted," Crang said. "It was obviously unexpected. It was pretty creative and now it's gone. It left a buzz in its wake."

    Despite its short stay, students called the hot tub the Bob and Betty Beyster Bubbler after the couple who donated $15 million to the school. The building is named after them.

    The philanthropic couple "found it amusing," Crang said.

    "It's apparently people who are close to the department because they were able to gain access to the building and install the tub," he said of whoever installed it. "The thing that intrigued everyone was that it was on the fourth-floor balcony. It's a large hot tub and the doors that lead out to the balcony are not real big, so they had to do some work to get it out there."

      Look in the engineering department. These are the guys and gals who have the knowledge to pull it off and the intelligence not to get caught. AND to know where to put it that it wouldn't fall through the roof. I'm glad to hear the tradition is continuing.

        Sounds not too different from the jocks who placed the coaches Bettle between pillars at the admin building on campus. Less the 1" between the bumpers and the pillars. Or, the even older (pre-automobile ear) prank of stealing a cow and taking it to a 4th floor room in the main class-room building. They fed it sufficiently over the time before the "adults" found out, the cow was too fat to get back through the door. Same school.

      Best thing we ever pulled off in college was installing a VW Beetle on a roof. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let it disappear the same way we installed it. They hired a crane! Had they left it alone, it wouldn't have cost a thing, 'cept maybe a keg or two.

      Hey, you'd NOT want to know how money is thrown around by the admin of a college.

      Look at UF (or any college);
      they can afford to pay Urbane (oscar) Meyer (and those coaches before and after him) MILLIONS of bucks and THEN cry that they don't have enough money!

      While many private university students are rich little snots, not all are. But they have to pony up a MINT to get the 4 year degree that even a robot store like TARGET requires (yes, requires!) for a simple assistant manager.

      An AM is nothing more than a babysitter for pukey, dienfranchised employees who steal and crap at every turn. He makes no decisions! Not even the Store Manger makes any!
      It is ALL DONE by home office (hence; Robot Store - Kmart, Walmart, BestBuy, etc etc.) where Retardlicans have taken all the AUTHORITY and left those below with only RESPONSIBILITY.

      That is the goal of the Retardlicans; you pull. we ride. You pinset, we bowl. You fix, we eat.

      So the colleges are the same thing, and the students are learning what the pattern is.

      Oh the things we use to do in college back in the 70's!!! Kudos to these students. Too man college students nowadays have neither the imagination nor the balls to act independently and outside of the guidelines dictated by paranoid college officials. Along with the loss of individuality goes loss of independent thinking. This generation will end up being the most boring generation society has ever witnessed and thus no real advancements in society. Not much to look forward to.
