"They see me two to three times a week, but I think it's important that they find time to be active. Whether it's going to the gym, a yoga class, a long walk, or a bike ride, I really encourage them to do something. I have them take a picture, take a selfie of the them doing this thing to show me their commitment."
Perrin knows that getting results in fitness is all about commitment and consistency. While he's in amazing shape now (just look at the pictures), the Massachusetts native knows firsthand what it's like to struggle with your weight. "I was very sick of going back and forth from overweight to in shape," he said. "Eventually I was like forget it, I am going to fix this. I taught myself the best practices and people started asking me how I was doing it. I started helping friends, and one thing led to another and people started paying me for it."
So what are those best practices? "Being consistent in your actions, being consistent with your workouts, being consistent with your diet," said Perrin. "Instead of thinking about it like 'I am going to lose weight for this event, like going to the beach,' you think 'I want to live a healthy lifestyle.'"
When Perrin isn't helping his personal training clients get in that mindset, he's teaching free classes at the Ritz Carlton or at the Nike store in Georgetown for their Nike Training Club. "We pack about 300 people in that room each Monday," he said of Nike Training Club. "It's this incredible energy, it's unlike any other workout fitness class I've ever been a part of. Everyone is so supportive of each other. They're upbeat and having fun with the workout and not just suffering through it. There's a lot of cheering going on."
We asked Perrin how he stays so enviably fit. "I like to do the things that I teach at Nike Training Club. I really like High Intensity Interval Training," he said. "When I'm in the gym, I try to go as fast and hard as possible because I usually only have 20 minutes to 30 minutes to work out, and then I have other things to do."
