That is exactly what I ask about the $trillion bush/cheney war boondoggle.
      • MsIndy 8 mths ago

        Pretty sure Afghanistan was Bush.

I mean, unless the 7 years of war before Obama doesn't count.

        Idiot.

This is exactly what happens when you have a president who hasn't got an ounce of fiscal sense or responsibility.
      • Rob 8 mths ago
no this is what happens when businesses try to create jobs. they can't. that is why the goverment needs to take over
      • Labatt 8 mths ago
You mean like the hundreds of billions of dollars of waste in Iraq and Afghanistan left over from the last president? Or the $22b/yr we spend on air conditioning the troops there?

Great point. Due to his lack of experience, he is easily sold on just about any idea.

It wouldn't have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that solar power is subsidized by taxpayer's money. Particularly when you're competing with foreign competitors. Now you have 1100 people under unemployment comp for 6 months to a year. So much for the renewable industry jump-starting jobs. It's not about job creation, it's about business creation. 1/2 Billion in loans to small businesses would have created more than 1100 jobs. I wonder where the money went?

It is not productive to denounce an entire source of green energy because our government either screwed up or was made a fool of. Our need to develop every energy source possible is much too critical to pooh pooh any one of them. If it turns out that some of them do not pay off as hoped and must be ruled out in the future, then there is time enough to do that. In the meantime we are send billions of our money to countries that do not have our best interests at heart and sometimes even use that money against us. Energy Independence is equally important as elimination of the National Debt, in my humble (or perhaps not so humble) opinion. While you point out some very realistic negatives in this story, I believe it is just part of the natural process of developing answers and moving forward on our overall goals.

not six months, but 99 weeks, right?

Unfortunately, the green sector is equally special interest, for the most part, because they are subsidized at taxpayer's expense. However, true energy renewable or energy efficient are never ever covered the by green sector, except in rare exceptions by well funded research in academia, such as MIT, etc. We have had a great deal of revolutionary products & entrepreneurs well capable of putting the so called green sector to shame (and they've been at it for a long time). Unfortunately, these technologies have been construed as too much of threat to the entrenched/established $6-7 Trillion energy infrastructure, and suppressed. However, that's changing, and will change in the foreseeable future, because it's becoming blatantly obvious that we can't no longer afford as business as usual. China, India, and other countries will take the lead, not because they've had a jump start on us, but because we're still preoccupied with conventional technologies, and often pooh pooh, anything that claims more efficiencies than conventional technologies.

I hope those two executives didn't get paid $60 million each last year. These people if they could not cheat with the banker(government) they will cheat the tax payer directly. If a black guy robbed people for $100 they got ten years, but these guys robbed $million they walk free.

China is giving bigger subsidies to its solar and energy tech companies. thats why china was able to undercut solyndra on prices and drive them out of business. its like how US farmers get massive subsidies and drive mexican farmers out of work.
      • SomphoneS 8 mths ago
I think what I and you have said combined and management fraud caused Solyndra Inc. doom.
    • Rob  •  8 mths ago
these favors our goverment does for big companys and then they get big donations should not be allowed.this is one reason that everything our goverment gets involved in cost us soooo much money.
      • Donald C 8 mths ago
how can any of these companys compete with chinese child labor for pennies a day if we dont wake up they will own us where is the tea party outrage idiots dont care
      • Rob 8 mths ago
donald...we should raise the tax on these products, so that we can compete here in the united states.
    • Hello There  •  8 mths ago
The House Republicans came in on the promise to create jobs. They haven't created any and are focusing their attention on everything but.
    • BillN  •  8 mths ago
would have been easier to give $480,000 to 1,100 unemployed and called it a day.
      caution taxpayers, democrats at work.
    • Check the facts  •  8 mths ago
      This just plain stinks.
To put it in perspective it is peanuts to what Wall St. Stole (was allowed to steal) and does not even come close to the 1 trillion spent in Iraq over the past 10 years.
    • Tony  •  8 mths ago
any time you send money to Cali,,what d you expect?
    • happycustomer  •  8 mths ago
Green technology is for homos and weenies. Just like Mad Max, I will always drive my machoman car/truck and use petro products, no matter the state of the world.
    • Spider-Bob  •  8 mths ago
While there at it, maybe the GOP should look into the $6.6 billion unaccounted for in the Iraq war?
    • deafsmith2016  •  8 mths ago
It's just the tip of the iceberg. With the Corrupt Democrat spending trillion of dollars, you can bet that billions have been stolen. Corruption is a way of life for Democrat politicians.
    • OK  •  8 mths ago
I though you repubs were all about letting the private sector handle everything because they do such a great job...doesn't always work out that way, huh.
    • A Yahoo! User  •  8 mths ago
At least it went back into this countries economy unlike the 12 billion in cash lost in Iraq!

Should the Nigras in the White House be investigated on Voodoo practicing charges?
    • mike  •  8 mths ago
This is just as bad as the "pass first, read later" fiasco...Taking millions of dollars from the US Gov. then declaring bankrupcy makes me wonder how much of that decision was made because of the "pass first, read later" fiasco...

This is typically of the Chicago style pay for play politics. Obama and company are adept at it. They have been taught by experts, fellow Democrats, like Blago, Repko, and others.
