Houston County to vote on leasing former sheriffs building
DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston County commissioners will decide whether or not to lease the old Houston County Sheriff’s building up for lease.
The commission will decide whether to lease the former sheriff’s building to the Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole.
The property of their current office downtown will be purchased by the city of Dothan and demolished to be used for parking for the new Dothan City Hall.
The old sheriff’s building has since been renovated with over 1 million dollars of work. Therefore two floors in the building can be used for their office.
The basement will be used for storing county files.
That leaves at least a floor of vacant space.
“It’s gotta be something in congruence with probation and parole so maybe the law enforcement office one day or if the courthouse needs some additional offices, but right now we don’t have any immediate plans.
The county will vote on approving the lease on Monday.
