Houston's body taken to morgue; autopsy planned

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A coroner's official says Whitney Houston's body has been transported from the Beverly Hills hotel where the singer died and is awaiting an autopsy.

Capt. Brian Elias of the Los Angeles County coroner's office says the examination has not been scheduled and that investigators are awaiting reports before an autopsy can be conducted.

He says he cannot release any information about how Houston's body was found at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

The 48-year-old singer died Saturday on the eve of the Grammy Awards. She had been expected to attend a pre-Grammy gala but was found dead hours before the event. Paramedics attempted to revive Houston, but were unsuccessful.

Her body remained at the hotel for several hours before being taken to the morgue.

Just one thing to say. It sad this woman turned her back on common sense and took the path which ultimately led to her destruction. She did have a tremendous talent. Sorry it's gone
      • Babygirl 3 mths ago
do you know for a fact that she turned her back on common sense? many famous or not have taken that path...some make, it some struggle and never overcome it...have you ever made a choice that didn't necessarily have "common sense" or are you one of those who is "perfect"? because i have NEVER met anyone who is truely "perfect" and others should not judge those they don't "personally" know in the sense of "behind the scenes"...many like to pass judgement, maybe those who do should look at the person in the mirror and judge themselves before they judge others....dont reply, just meditate on your own personal thoughts towards others.

Money and fame kills, i'll stay poor and have some kind of life. She knew she had a problem, how could she not know when it was always pushed in her face. She knew she had messed up her voice by doing that stuff. Can any of us say we have not made a mistake, or used poor judgement on anything we have done in our lives. Lets remember her as a beauitful woman, Mother, Sister and someones Daughter, and her voice was amazing.Lets remember the good in her, and let the devil fight for the bad. R.I.P.Whitney May your soul fly with the angels now.

poor people are addicts too..just not public...addiction don't disriminate..that's just igorance...go to any low income neighborhood in this country look on the corners..rich people can just get it easier..same thing in the end addiction..its all sad and becomes out of the control in an addicts hands and their families do their best but its a major issue for all of america to realize..but hell politicians getting their choice of drugs on too..judgement no one has right to pass, but God. Maybe people should focus on their own demons before judging someone else walk ur own shoes and stop trying to squeeze into ones not ur own....just saying

It's just like Elvis and that white guy, Michael Jackson. Dr.s and "friends" won't do what is right to help these folks when they go in the wrong direction 'cause they most likely will be cut off from the $ and the excitement/lifestyle of being part of the entourage or family.

Drugs kill, sooner or later that is very true. now I feel sorry that another person died to drugs. HER MUSIC was really pretty. and she had a great voice. On others coments being so mean and ugly please do not say Drs. are killing us. there are BAD Drs/ yes, but there are VERY GOOD doctors that are getting scared to prescribe what other people REAlLY need, not hard drugs, MEDICINE needed, because they are scared to get in trouble. So lots of people go without needed medicine, like me, because some drs. are afraid. I have never ever done, or will NOT do hard drugs...but feel real sorry for youngs being intruduce to them. And in the meantime I live in PAIN because I can not even get my migraine medication.....(not a strong one at all)

The emergency responders found her in the tub. Did Whitney's entourage not have the sense to take her out of the top onto a flat, dry surface and try to revive her?

She had a wonderful voice when she wasn't high. And it's a shame she died; from whatever reasons; BUT I wish the media would STOP "remembering " her for "her song"... I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. While she did a beautiful job in HER rendition of it....I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU will ALWAYS be --and should be DOLLY PARTONS' song !!!
Her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner; is what she really ROCKED at !! :-)
      RIP WHITNEY.

Typical envy from those that have nothing to show for their sorry lives. Oh well hate on while the rest of us enjoy life and those that bring talent like this to us.

She was a fantastic singer with a beautiful voice. I hope drugs did not kill her, but she had a bad drug problem. She will be greatly missed in the music world.

I'm so sick of hearing about how surprisingly tragic it is that she died. Well guess what....she's been killing herself with drugs her whole life. it's not like she never touched drugs and alcohol then randomly died. look at the big picture and you won't feel sorry for her. she did it to herself so good!

Yeah. A relatively young (48 years old) woman with a history of drug and alcohol abuse drops dead in a hotel room. Yah. Drugs and booze had nothing whatsoever to do with it. Yah, right.

Lindsay should be forced to watch Whitney's autopsy. If that doesn't stop her then nothing will.

Yes - she had a great voice, yes - it is sad she died, but that's it. She was a singer that made millions of dollars. Our values in America have become really screwed up. A policeman who gets killed on duty, a fireman who dies trying to save someone from a burning building, our soldiers who die fighting for our freedom and others who make a difference in our lives everyday who die don't get this type of outcry. Athletes who make millions and have an agent belong to unions - but all they do is play a game. Actors/Actresses make millions, have agents and belong to a union - but their job is to pretend to be someone else. How about if the police, fireman, teachers, doctors, nurses, electricians, plumbers, auto mechanics, refuse collectors, etc. went away, that would affect your life We value the wrong things. We don't need dancing with the stars, real housewives of ..., 16 & pregnant, jersey shore, etc. Let me leave you with this - the average salary in the NBA is $5.5 million per year to play a game. If a person averages $100,000 a year for 45 years that is only $4.5 million and that's in 45 years. Yes it is sad she died but no sadder than anyone else.

yeah everyone has birth n death in common but itz really all wut we do positive in between that precious time we have that really matters not alwayz who makes the most fame/money.
      • Bill014u2 3 mths ago
Amen, Brother. That's my sentiments exactly. This country is too worried about entertainers and nothing is ever thought about the people that really matter, that keep this country going. The people that bust their #$%$ out there everyday for a meager paycheck and have to make do.

For all these people making comments about HOW she died, you don't know. Stop assuming. The time will come when everyone know. A death is a death, regardless of how someone dies. A family is grieving over their daughter, mother, sister, aunt... You don't have to feel sorry for her, she did whatever she did. But stop making speculations about how she died. If you can't give your condolences, then don't give your negative comments. Rest in peace, Whitney.
