How Cuba Gooding Jr. Was Nearly Arrested Filming ‘Show Me the Money’ Scene

On Inside the Actor’s Studio, Cuba Gooding Jr. shared the odd and slightly scary story of filming the iconic “show me the money” scene in Jerry Maguire.

Due to Tom Cruises’s scheduling conflicts with Eyes Wide Shut, the two had to shoot the scene on short notice, but Gooding did not get that notice. At the last minute, Cuba had to jump into a car with his assistant driving and talk to Tom on his cellphone while hurrying to the studio.

After multiple takes, Cuba had arrived at the studio, but that’s when the problem started. He said, “The police showed up at the lot because there’s this angry black man yelling in his Suburban outside a soundstage, threatening to kill people and he loves black people, or whatever he’s saying.”

Luckily for everyone, things were sorted out and audiences got the memorable scene.

Inside the Actor’s Studio airs on BravoTV.
