Hoxie girls basketball sets Kansas state record for consecutive wins

You would think at some point over a stretch of 92 basketball games that the Hoxie (Kan.) girls would have an "off night" and finish with a loss.
Nope.
According to MaxPreps correspondent and CatchItKansas contributor Conor Nicholl, the Indians set a Kansas state record Saturday when they won their 92nd game in a row, a streak that began in December of 2011. The record-setting victory came in a 65-41 sub-state victory over Stockton, and it surpassed the 91-game streak that Little River had posted from 1994-98.
The Indians will have more chances to add to the record as they chase a state title in the Class 1A-I playoffs.
It was an emotional event after the game, with former players showing up to show support and to revel in the record they played a part in setting.
"We mainly did this for the past Lady Indians," senior Carly Heim told Nicholl. "For us, we are still working on that state championship, so we are kind of more focused on that than this right now."
The streak may be a Kansas record, but the Indians have quite a way to go if they want the national record, which is 218 by Baskin (La.), according to the National Federation of State High School Associations Record Book.
