HTC plans to fight patent claims, refuses to settle with Apple

5-inch Google Nexus smartphone reportedly in the works from HTC

HTC (2498) has been in a patent dispute with Apple (AAPL) since 2010 and despite Samsung’s recent defeat, the Taiwanese manufacturer has no intention of settling with the iPhone maker, The China Post reported. Chairwoman Cher Wang revealed on Tuesday that HTC is not holding talks with Apple and remains optimistic about future lawsuits. Wang also noted that Samsung’s (005930) loss is not a setback for the Android ecosystem because “every company has good innovations.” HTC faced its own setback earlier this summer when the launch of its flagship One X smartphone was delayed due to an International Trade Commission investigation, which marked the first time Apple’s numerous patent complaints paid off against a rival in the U.S. An initial ruling on the Apple and HTC case is scheduled for November 7th.
