Huge 23-Foot Shark ‘As Big As Jaws’ Could Be The Biggest Ever Seen

A vast, Jaws-sized great white shark could be the biggest ever spotted after a shark-spotting helicopter’s photographer estimated its length at 7 metres.

It was spotted off the coast of Marino Rocks, south of Adelaide, at the weekend - and nearby beaches were evacuated.

Local media described the creature as being ‘as big as Jaws’.

The largest great white shark on record is 6.4 metres, according to ScienceAlert.

‘It’s the biggest ever seen as a crew member in the Westpac chopper. We put it down as 7 m … the photo really doesn’t do it justice,’ a member of the helicopter crew said.

The helicopter crew claimed to have measured it by comparing it to their 20-foot boat.

‘They didn’t have a tape measure, of course, but that is how long they estimated it to be,’ said a spokesperson.

‘There wasn’t another sighting of the shark … and it was moving fairly quickly into deeper water.’
